On the life of Trinity Church beyond Sundays

What other things happen in the church life apart from Sunday services?

I haven't been to church recently what is the service like?

The services at Trinity Church are designed to be as visitor-friendly as possible. We don't expect you to know anything before you visit and regularly explain different parts of the service. The services mainly contain a mixture of songs, Bible readings and prayers as well as a talk (approx 20minutes) on a passage from the Bible. The service also contains a confession and creed (statement of beliefs) which you are welcome to join in with as you wish, or just use those times to reflect on what is said. The evening service tends to be little less formal than the morning service as well as being smaller in number.

Children come to the first part of each morning service and then leave for their groups, except for the first Sunday of the month where they remain for the whole service.

Do you take collections?

No collections are taken during services. There is an opportunity to give to the work of Trinity and worldwide mission in a box near the entrance to the Sunday services, but there is no expectation that anybody visiting should be giving to this.

What are the arrangements for children and babies?

Children aged 3-11 come to the first part of each morning service and then leave for their groups, except for the first Sunday of the month where they remain for the whole service. For older children (School yr 8-10) there is a group called Impact which meets during the evening service at the school.

During the morning service there is a crèche at the school where parents can take their young children. This is manned on each Sunday except for the first Sunday of the month.

How do I know the children's leaders are 'safe'?

All children and youth group leaders are cleared with the CRB (enhanced disclosure level). Leaders also followed standard child-protection guidance, for example, no adult leader will be alone with a child.

I'm not sure what I believe these days, do you have any courses for people like me?

We certainly do, and would love to hear from you. Please visit the 'Investigating Christianity' pages for more information.

Do you offer the Alpha course?

We don't run the Alpha Course at Trinity Church, but we run a very similar sort of course for those investigating the claims of Christianity. For more information please go to the 'Investigating Christianity' page or click on 'Christianity Explored'.

What do you believe?

Please visit the 'Investigating Christianity' page to find out what we believe at Trinity Church.

How do I contact the vicar? When is his day off?

You can contact the Rev'd Jonny Elvin by calling him on 01392-363627 or emailing jonny@trinityexeter.com . There may be a more appropriate person to contact - please visit the 'Contact Us' page to find other addresses. On Saturdays, please only contact Jonny Elvin if it is urgent as this is his day off.

Are you a proper church?

The Bible defines a church as a meeting of Christians, and as such we at Trinity are a church, despite not having our own building. As a church we are part of the Church of England in the diocese of Exeter. We are closely linked to St Leonard's Church in the centre of Exeter.

Can I/my child be baptised?

Baptisms for both infants and older are regularly carried out at Trinity. Please contact Rev'd Jonny Elvin if you would like to enquire about this.

What other things happen at Trinity Church beyond Sundays?

We believe that Christianity extends well beyond services on Sundays. There is much happening at Trinity beyond these services. Click on any of the above links to see what other meetings there are at Trinity, as well as other youth meetings and one off events in the dates and events page.
